Learning about US symbols

This week we have been learning about what election, vote, and citizen mean. We also started learning about important US symbols. Today we talked about the American flag and why it is special. Then we made flags and listened to patriotic music 🇺🇸 They loved it! 

Halloween addition

We started using the ten frame to help us make combinations for 10. We used Halloween counters on our ten frames to help us. 

Learning buddies

We finally got to meet with our third grade buddies! 😊😊😊 They are from Mrs. Gosset's class. They came to our room and helped us learn how to play a game called "Roll, Say, Keep". Some of us had time for another math card game. 

Exploring shapes

We have been reviewing 2 dimensional shapes and learning about 3 dimensional shapes. We've been sorting, comparing, and describing similarities and differences. We've learned about edges, vertices, and faces. This is a lot of information and advanced vocabulary, so we will revisit these concepts often.

Reading workshop

This is what Reader's Workshop looks like. Each child has their own book box with about 8 books. They "read" independently for about 5 minutes. While they're reading, I'm teaching the children how to "shop" for books.
